William Wordsworth lived at Rydal Mount, now one of the most famous literary homes in Britain for most of his life. Here he wrote and revised much of his poetry and it is where the Prelude was published along with the definitive version of his most famous poem Daffodils. He landscaped the 5 acre gardens and they are a unique example of the Romantics style being in total harmony with the natural surrounding beauty of the Lakes and Fells.
