Last month we had the pleasure of visiting the Lakeside Hotel and Spa. If you haven’t visited, this impressive hotel sits on the shore of England’s largest lake, Lake Windermere.
We were shown around the stunning, traditional hotel which has a wonderful, varied selection of rooms to suit every guest. The modern adjoining Aveda destination spa is equally impressive, clients can relax in the 17m pool with a view, use the hot tub, steam room or sauna in-between luxury treatments.
We were visiting for the three course afternoon tea, and opted for the light, bright conservatory to dine. The space was the perfect environment to relax for an afternoon tea, we sat peacefully looking at the beautiful view of Lake Windermere which was just metres away!
The service was exceptional. Our friendly waitress went through the extensive menu of luxury tea’s and we were even able to smell each of the tea options in the quirky cylinders of tea leaves provided (see our pictures below!). We opted for strawberry and kiwi tea, the passionfruit and orange and jasmine dragon pearls. Each were served in beautiful transparent, glass tea pots.
Our first course was an utterly delicious tomato soup with basil oil, a great start to any meal. This was followed by a selection of sandwiches, we had opted for the vegetarian option and were pleasantly surprised by the variety.
The cakes and desserts were served on a beautiful three tiered stand and there was so much to choose from! Our favourite of the selection was the simple, yet delicious homemade buttermilk fruit scone with jam and cream. It was warm and the perfect texture of moist, light and fluffy. We even had a miniature apple crumble with custard!
After tucking in to our desserts and cakes, our waitress kindly asked if we would like a coffee, we of course said yes and the freshly brewed americano was the perfect way finish a great afternoon.
