We’ll start in the dark. The rustling of tree leaves and branches snapping under foot. No, it’s not Halloween just yet. It’s GoApe’s Sundown Trees experience. For only £20 per head, you can spend 2 hours climbing and zipping through Grizedale forest under a blanket of stars. Instructors are on hand for a full safety tutorial and sturdy shoes are a must! Sundown treks are only available throughout October on selected dates: 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, and the 26th 6.30pm - 9pm.
Venture into Whinlatter Forest for their Wild Women's Day. A monthly occurrence, the next walk is scheduled for November 8th and offers the opportunity for women 16 and over to discover survival skills, foraging, and fire lighting. Like with GoApe, sturdy shoes are a must. You will also need warm waterproof clothing, your own lunch (although lunch can be purchased there), and an enthusiasm for the outdoors. Tickets are £40 per person and the trek commences at 10am.
