Autumnal Outdoor Adventures

While it’s tempting to curl up by the fire as mist lays upon the hills, the Autumn is actually the perfect time to get some much needed fresh air. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right as you can fill your lungs with crisp autumn air without being weighed down by too many layers. As expected, we have a few suggestions on how to explore the Lake District this Autumn, with something for everyone.

We’ll start in the dark. The rustling of tree leaves and branches snapping under foot. No, it’s not Halloween just yet. It’s GoApe’s Sundown Trees experience. For only £20 per head, you can spend 2 hours climbing and zipping through Grizedale forest under a blanket of stars. Instructors are on hand for a full safety tutorial and sturdy shoes are a must! Sundown treks are only available throughout October on selected dates: 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, and the 26th 6.30pm - 9pm.

Venture into Whinlatter Forest for their Wild Women's Day. A monthly occurrence, the next walk is scheduled for November 8th and offers the opportunity for women 16 and over to discover survival skills, foraging, and fire lighting. Like with GoApe, sturdy shoes are a must. You will also need warm waterproof clothing, your own lunch (although lunch can be purchased there), and an enthusiasm for the outdoors. Tickets are £40 per person and the trek commences at 10am.

Looking for an all round package? Look no further! Book the Potter’s Lake Explorer package at one of three hotels, Briery Wood, Merewood, or Cragwood, and experience the Beatrix Potter Tour with Mountain Goat along with your overnight stay. From £269 per room, available Sunday - Thursday, you will receive overnight accommodation in a house room, half day Mountain Goat tour, homemade box of chocolates, three-course dinner, and a full English the following morning.

To book, visit the website of either hotel. Links can be found on the hotel tab above.
