Rheged is a gallery, café, cinema, shopping venue, workplace and creative space on the edge of the Northern Lakes. A place where friends, family and colleagues can share a meal, watch a film, hold a meeting, see an exhibition, buy a gift or catch up over coffee.
It’s a flexible space for getting together or enjoying time alone with a book or notepad; a place where stories are told, ideas are sparked and the Cumbrian landscape is a constant source of inspiration. Especially at Christmas time.
Running until Feb 1 is a very special art exhibition, Twenty Five and Onwards, marking Rheged’s 25th birthday. Discover striking paintings, dynamic sculpture, powerful photography and mixed media by 25 professional Cumbrian artists.
This weekend, Dec 6 and 7, the Christmas magic begins on the big screen. Join André Rieu for his 2025 Christmas Concert – “Merry Christmas” and experience joyful carols, beautiful waltzes, and plenty of surprises.
It’s the ultimate Christmas cinema event.
There are lots of pre-Christmas activities for families including, on Sat Dec 13 (10am) a mosaic Christmas Decorations workshop with Helen Clues. Come and make beautiful Christmas themed mosaic decorations and items for indoor display, using traditional and recycled materials.
Friday Dec 12 at 7.30, the Big Fish Comedy Club brings new voices in comedy to venues across Cumbria and this final show of the year features three comedians hand-picked from the North West scene and beyond, bringing their freshest jokes to enjoy the unique “big fish in a small pond” experience that Cumbria has to offer. Come and catch the next big thing before they’re really, really famous.
