Come and work in the Lake District

It’s been a dream come true for many people working in the beautiful Lake District. Now there’s a chance to follow your dream and work in the heart of the National Park, surrounded by the exquisite landscape of Britain’s favourite holiday destination.

If you’ve taken early retirement and miss the daily banter with colleagues, or you’re looking for a new challenge and to meet new people, you’re invited to come along to a recruitment event on the shores of lovely Ullswater.

New Opportunities at Any Age is the latest event staged by the Lake District Hotels Association, this time at Another Place, The Lake, at Watermillock. It’s on June 24 from 3pm, and if you love the Lake District and welcome any opportunity to talk about it, this is your big chance.

Tracey Cragg from the organisers says: “It’s an opportunity to meet with some of our friendly hoteliers to get an idea of what opportunities there might be for you to join their team. No hard sell, just enjoy a drink, a chat and if you like, a nosey around this beautiful venue. We have some beautiful hotels in the Lakes staffed by lovely people, and we want to meet you if you’d consider spending a few hours a week, enjoying the location and earning some extra money. Age is no barrier at all!”

There have been some great success stories in the last year or so, such as the newly retired former nurse who, at the age of 61, embarked on a new career in one of the Lakes’ leading hotels. A runner and walker who had always loved the Lake District, she went along to a recruitment day organised by the LDHA and realised that here was a chance to live her dream. She now works works two days a week as part of an enthusiastic hospitality team – and has started ticking off all the Wainwright fells.

The event is free, but please do book here so that the organisers know how many people will be turning up. “And bring your friends,” says Tracey. “You’ll all be very welcome.”
