Four-legged friends are welcomed with open arms in the Lakes, and many visitors are always amazed when they see how many of our fabulous hotels, restaurants and pubs allow our furry friends to enjoy some rest and relaxation too (some eateries even have special dog menus!)
No matter whereabouts you’re visiting in the Lake District, there are some great picks of places that will let you holiday with your favourite four-legged friends. It’s very difficult to pick our top spots, as we’re lucky that there are so many in the area, but here are just a sample of some of our favourites around the Lakes…
Copper Pot in Ambleside - Dogs welcome inside and in the garden terrace, treats and water available for all pooches.
Stiles Coffee Bar in Ambleside - towels for soggy pups available, as well as a treat or two.
The Giggling Goose - a cafe in a beautiful setting by the Old Water Mill, dog friendly throughout.
Langdale Chase in Windermere - Dogs welcome to stay but the hotel does have a pet policy which guests are asked to read through.
Holbeck Ghyll in Windermere - Offer a VIC (Very Important Canine) package at £50 per dog, including a comfy bed with a Mungo and Maud blanket and bowl, as well as a bag of organic treats and a Mungo and Maud toy to take home with them. Two dogs maximum and permitted in lodge rooms and by the inglenook fireplace only.
Hillthwaite in Windermere - Dogs are welcome to stay and are allowed in and around the hotel including the log-fired lounge, conservatory, reception lobby, and all areas outside including the panoramic terrace and landscaped gardens. Dogs charged at extra £20 but includes doggy package.
