It is Mother’s Day on Sunday, got your gifts planned? We think afternoon tea is the perfect Mother’s Day gift, not only can you tuck into some delicious treats, but it’s the perfect time for usually, a well overdue catch up. And well, here in the Lake District we really are spoilt for choice in the tea and cake department.
From alternative afternoon teas of the G&T and champagne variety to mini burgers instead of cakes, well we’ve got the lot!
To give you an idea for where to start, we’ve outlined a few of the most extravagant afternoon teas we’ve found available in the stunning Lake District.
The Wild Boar
Afternoon Tea at the Wild Boar is spectacular, and well, different! Instead of the traditional tea and cake, you can enjoy mouth watering mini fish and chips, pork scratchings, pigs in blankets, and to finish, the traditional element of scones, jam and cream. Yum!
The Wild Boar serve their afternoon tea in their lounge, with lots of comfortable seating and an open fire. Find out more about this fabulous venue here: https://bit.ly/2U5XIo2
Daffodil Hotel & Spa
If you appreciate intricate beautiful cake decorations and designs then The Daffodil’s afternoon tea is the one for you. Indulge in a heavenly selection of delectable treats including spiced banana cake, chocolate truffle cones and a rhubarb and custard crumble tart. For an extra special treat you can even add a glass of prosecco or champagne!
At the Daffodil you can also enjoy the stunning lake views while you dine in either the sitting room or dining room. Find our more about the Daffodil here: https://bit.ly/2HNW7g3
Waterhead Hotel
Gin and tonic fan? Look no further! The Waterhead hotel takes the concept of G&T afternoon tea to a whole new level. The clever, creative team have incorporated five different gins into their afternoon delight. To name just a couple of their innovations, the locally produced Lakes Gin has been incorporated into the marinade to cure the fresh salmon in the mouth watering salmon & cream cheese bagel, while the chocolate eclair, is infused by the popular, premium Warner Edwards Rhubarb Gin.
Of course, instead of tea, this G&T afternoon tea comes with a glass of gin and tonic. If you decide to opt for the Waterhead, we’d suggest sitting outside as this lovely hotel overlooks Waterhead Bay. Find out more about the Waterhead here: https://bit.ly/2CK5Lw2
