Hidden away in the heart of the Lake District Hillthwaite House Hotel in Windermere has an enviable location with its stunning surroundings and following recent refurbishment is set to become an even more sought after destination.
The family run hotel with some of the best views over Windermere has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, comfortable and quintessentially English decor with a modern twist. Following a two month closure since the end of November last year the extensive upgrade was completed ready for the grand opening on 10th February which saw most of their 30 strong team of staff return to run the new and improved Hillthwaite House Hotel.
Regular visitors will notice the overall look and feel of the hotel has been significantly enhanced from the moment they are welcomed through the brand new entrance into the contemporary reception area. A bespoke fragrance to capture the senses as you enter the hotel has been created by EcoScent who also work with the famous Gleneagles Hotel.
One of the stand out additions to Hillthwaite has to be its impressive new conservatory/orangery lounge. With spectacular views looking out over Windermere Lake this superbly stylish and cosy area with log burning stove for those winter months is sure to be in demand with guests and locals alike.
In addition to the newly renovated lounges 10 of the hotel’s 34 bedrooms have also seen an upgrade along with 5 bathrooms. Such was the standard of the renovations they have been able to create new Signature Double Rooms which truly are a luxurious way to spend your break in the Lakes. Choose between either floor to ceiling bay windows or a balcony to admire the views beyond. Both also come with super king size beds, nespresso machines and very indulgent luxury ensuites with TV all tastefully and exquisitely designed throughout.
Being a local family run business the owners were keen to work with tradesmen and suppliers from the area so all carpets were provided by Kendal Quality Carpets, decoration was managed by South Cumbria Construction, the new contemporary reception desk was designed and made by GW North West Joinery with general support from local contractor John Burrows.
The improvements have made an already popular and stunning hotel into a spectacular, luxurious and must-visit destination. The team at Hillthwaite are looking forward to inviting their regular guests back to showcase the renovations and hoping the improvements will attract some new visitors, including the local community, to enjoy a coffee, lunch or break away. One thing is for sure, the usual ‘Hillthwaite hospitality’ welcome will be given to everyone who comes through their new and stylish doors.
