Found the perfect place to unwind from everyday life? We have.

Last week we were lucky enough to visit the brand new Netherwood Hotel Spa, dating back to the mid 1800’s, this is without doubt a luxury hotel full of history and grandeur. The expertly crafted landscaped gardens frame the hotel beautifully, and set overlooking the picturesque Morecambe Bay you couldn’t really ask for a better view!

On arrival we received a warm welcome as we stood open mouthed at the impressive entrance. The grand fireplaces and beautiful stained glass windows made us feel as though we were visiting a castle!

We were kindly shown to the Spa where the soft floral scent instantly made us feel relaxed and ready to unwind. The natural earth tones of the contemporary interior added to the tranquil atmosphere, the perfect environment to clear your mind and body.

We had booked in for the Germaine De Cappuccino Aroma Massage. I was very excited about this as I knew Germaine de Capuccini was used in the most exclusive salons and spas around the world. If you are not familiar, this renowned brand offers treatments and products for all types of skin and uses the highest quality natural ingredients combined with the very latest in biotechnology.

We were shown around three luxury therapy rooms and one double room where you can share the experience with a friend or partner. Before entering the treatment, we had a selection of pre-blended oils to choose from for our aroma massage. Each of them designed to suit different needs and moods, we were spoilt for choice! I decided upon ‘Metal’ a revitalizing massage, with lemon, lime and nutmeg designed to uplift the mind and body. I felt truly relaxed, refreshed and at peace.

After our rejuvenating massage we explored the rest of spa, and there is so much on offer, all catering for a variety of personal tastes and ailments. I had never come across a salt inhalation room before and was interested to learn more - a clinically proven relief for a variety of skin and respiratory conditions including psoriasis, eczema, and asthma.

The aroma steam room was very therapeutic, the calming essence to the steam and the high temperature made it all the more enjoyable as my muscles relaxed and my pores were cleansed. After this I cooled off at the stylish copper ice fountain, and then in the beautifully lit monsoon shower!

If I had to choose a fave area, it might have to be the tropical space that boasts a hydrotherapy hot tub, a relaxing hot ‘bath’ tub and if you’re brave, a cold plunge tub. All set within an uber modern space with warm contemporary style scandinavian decor.

The relaxation room and the snug were a lovely finishing touch, two spaces to chill either between treatments or before and after enjoying the facilities. I took this opportunity to read about the wide range of treatments offered. There is a variety of facials each targeting different concerns, body exfoliation therapies, various types of specialist massage, and beauty treatments, including a double nail bar and eyelash and eyebrow tinting. After this utopian experience I will definitely be going back, I mean, there is so much more to try!

If you are interested in visiting The Netherwood Hotel and Spa, there is a range of tempting spa packages to choose from on their website, some even including prosecco and nibbles! You can also view detailed information about all treatments, spa facilities and accomodation.
