The Photography competition 2018 is live! It has been set up to celebrate the beauty of the Lake District and to show why we are all so passionate about it!

Last year was a huge success with over 1,000 entries, and this year we have made it even bigger with five categories to enter, four guest judges and 5 amazing prizes up for grabs.

Entries are open until 20th December, with the winner being announced in January.

Thinking about entering? Check out the five themes that local photography enthusiasts can choose from. These include ‘animals’ (amusing expressions of animals and/or animals in the Lake District environment), ‘activities’ (reflecting ‘what you have achieved today’) and ‘landscapes of the seasons’ (classic seasonal shots of the area’s natural beauty). There is also the ‘unusual perspective’ category (unexpected and artistic perspectives), and ‘working in tourism’, which depicts the staff who support the area’s tourism.

The judging panel includes Jennifer Cormack Sales and Marketing director at Windermere Lake Cruises and LDHA, The Creative Branch, professional photographer Tiree Dawson, The Brewery Arts Centre, Wonderful Wild Women and Kendal Mountain Festival. The winner of each category will enjoy not only the prize of a one night stay at a hotel, or tickets for a tourist attraction but valuable publicity and exposure of their work.
