New opportunities at Lake District hotels

Hotels in the Lake District are on the lookout for older staff in a recruitment drive to help people discover new opportunities at any age.

The teams at hotels belonging to the Lake District Hotels Association are inviting people of all ages to an information day at the classy Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa near Bassenthwaite Lake. But they are particularly keen to welcome mature workers, people who might be looking for part time work, even just a few hours a week.

“As one of the main players in our local economy, our industry offers fair pay, equal opportunities and flexible working in a fun and enviable environment where age doesn’t matter,” says the Association’s chairman Ben Mayou.

“We have successfully recruited new staff who were retired, or semi-retired, and found they still needed a challenge. There’s an array of opportunities the industry has that are suited to the 50+ age group. They might be looking for a new post, or they might be early retirees who may be looking to top up their income, keep socially active but only work limited hours a week.”

The Lake District Hotels Association represents some of the finest and largest independent and branded properties in Cumbria and their members run some of the biggest hospitality businesses in the Lakes. The Association also includes tourist attractions and suppliers, creating a network to share experiences and build relationships.

“We entice the future workforce and retaining existing talent,” says Ben. “And we provide networking, education, development and training opportunities for team members at all levels.”

Anyone interested in learning more – and having a look around Armathwaite Hall – is asked to book here . It’s all free, the team just likes to know how many to cater for in advance. The event is on Thursday October 9 from 3pm.
