Another Place wins best hotel award

We’re all delighted that our member hotel, Another Place, The Lake was named Large Hotel of the Year at the Cumbria Tourism awards.
Nearby, The Brackenrigg Inn, owned by the same team, took the Pub of the Year title.

David Vaughan, hotel director at Another Place, The Lake, said: "We’re so pleased to win not one but two incredible awards. Establishing and maintaining an exceptional hotel guest and team experience is all part of making sure that both Another Place, The Lake and The Brackenrigg Inn are a cut above the rest.”
The hotel on the shores of Ullswater, which opened in 2018, acquired The Brackenrigg Inn in 2023. The inn was renovated and reopened in 2024 as a pub with rooms and a restaurant for both hotel guests and people in the area.
The Large Hotel of the Year Award recognised Another Place’s dedication to tourism and its approach to hospitality. The Brackenrigg Inn’s Pub of the Year win comes after just one year in operation under the hotel’s ownership.
“These awards are a milestone achievement for Another Place, showing the hotel’s dedication and commitment to both the guest experience and the local community and economy."
It means that Another Place will go on to represent Cumbria on the national stage at the 2026 Visit England Awards for Excellence.
The hotel’s location on the lakeshore has made it a favourite for wilderness swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing, and totally winding down. There’s also an indoor pool, and a whole host of activities which can be booked during a stay. https://another.place/the-lake/active
As well as fabulous rooms and suites, there’s also outside living in a collection of new rooms and spaces within the hotel grounds, designed to bring guests closer to the wild. These include shepherd huts and a treehouse.
For dining there’s the casual Living Space with deep-set sofas, views of the lake and a crowd-pleasing menu for lunch or dinner, while Rampsbeck Restaurant offers a three-course seasonal menu influenced by the flavours of the local landscape. At the end of the vegetable garden, with panoramic views of the lake, is The Glasshouse serving pizzas on the lake shore.
