One of our favourite seasons to explore The Lake District is Winter. The area is simply stunning at this time of year.. Snow capped mountains, crisp morning air and clear blue skies.. It’s just gorgeous don’t you think?

Plus, we’re lucky enough to have a great number of fantastic venues right on our door step to suit all adventurous tastes throughout the Winter and we’re here to share our top four with you! Have you explored them all?

Honister Slate Mine

Perfect for Winter weather, ‘Climb the Mine’ at Honister follows the route of the original underground mine workings. Complete with vertical climbs and rope-bridge crossings, this weather-proof experience sees participants led deep underground to explore a secret world of hidden passages and magnificent caverns. Grizedale Forest

A must visit when exploring The Lake District. Enjoy the stunning scenery by bike or segway and if you’re ready for a real adventure, take on the Go Ape challenge high up in the tree tops. View more here. 

Brockhole

Brockhole has it all. It’s a fantastic destination for a Wintry adventurous day. Get your adrenaline pumping high up in the tree tops with TreeTop Nets and TreeTop Trek! Suitable for children and adults alike, this is one of our favourite places to visit in The Lake District, and it’s open all year around! Whinlatter Forest

Alongside its myriad of adventurous activities for for all ages, Whinlatter Forest is one of the most beautiful places to visit in The Lake District. Known for its stunning natural beauty, the area is now a Red Squirrel reserve. A must visit.
