A hop, skip and jump from the famous market town of Kendal is the Riverside Hotel, situated on the banks of the River Kent and beneath the ruins of Kendal’s 12th century castle. We are a gateway to the Lake District, with a bus and train station nearby, and a 20-minute drive from Lake Windermere. Kendal itself is full of bustling shops, galleries and museums.

The hotel has 58 en-suite bedrooms including two small suites. There are 7 'fur-free' bedrooms added to complement our existing 51 pet-friendly rooms. For family groups or those with older children we have the option to book adjoining rooms to allow extra space whilst staying close.

Our Sanctuary Health and Fitness Club is open to non-residents and is a state-of-the-art facility offering the facilities of: heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub, gymnasium and exercise studio. We have a brilliant team of expert instructors on hand to offer you their best advice. A favourite is our aqua classes are fast and energetic, and can often be very full! He makes the most of the water’s natural cushioning effect, which is great for those of you with sore knees or hips, or after a long day of walking and exploring the Lake District.
